intraining giving back

On 14 January 2015, intraining Running Centre Indooroopilly were happy to assist Ethiopian refugee and now local runner, Lamaa Kuruu with complimentary footwear. Podiatrist and owner, Steve Manning was on hand to help fit Lamaa with a brand new pair of running shoes. “He was very happy”, says Manning who was happy to provide Lamaa with some new shoes.

Lamaa is an Ethiopian refugee who is seeking a better life in Australia. Keeping with his country’s mantra, the softly spoken Lamaa is an outstanding runner who will be competing in Brisbane’s local running events. Lamaa’s first event in 2015 will be the Twilight Running Festival 5km Run/Walk event on 22 March. Lamaa will be looking to win the event, after coming second in his first race in Australia in 2014 at the Twilight Bay Run 5km Run/Walk whilst leading the event.

Lamaa unfortunately stopped 100m from the finish line whilst in the lead from (3 time unbeaten winner) Patrick Hagan in 2014 after he thought the course was completed when the lead bike stopped to let him run down the finish chute. Hagan would pass Lamaa in the final 100m, after which time Lamaa understood the event was not yet finished and began running again.

Lamaa is very much looking forward to running at Twilight in March. The happy Ethiopian was all smiles at intraining Running Centre with his new shoes.

Join in the fun of the Twilight Run on 22 March and help raise funds and awareness for Redkite charity.
