Weekly intraining running update September 14th 2018

by Coaching Director Greg Scanlon

Running in Review

Last Sunday we tried a new idea for testing your pacing abilities. It was a handicap/predictor event where the goal was to run as close as possible to your nominated time without going over. Watches were not allowed, making you test your own pace judgment. The course was over 16km, an unusual distance, so everyone was in the same boat in terms of familiarity. Congratulations to Stephen Walmsley, who won himself a pair of OOFOS footwear.

At the same event, Clay Dawson was able to win his 5th 10 mile Championship at BRRC. It is wonderful to see that a true gentleman be rewarded for his hard work, class and consistency. Well done Clay. The rest of the field was filled out by many fine performances through the ranks which you can view here.

Marty Kelly had a good day, travelling to Coffs Harbour for a 4th overall and Age Group win in the Coffs Harbour Running Festival Half Marathon. To top it off was a photo with Steve Moneghetti on the podium.

Looking ahead

This Sunday the 16th is a long run from intraining Running Centre Milton.  10-35km and a 5:30pm start as usual.

September 23rd is the Twilight Bay Run. Make sure enter as part of the intraining Team. Make sure you wear your club singlet as the usual vociferous support will be in place.

The Tri season starts on September 23rd at Robina. For any help or guidance, make sure you get in touch with the Trisquad at [email protected], or go to their Facebook page. The squad is now running regular Wednesday evening and Friday morning sessions to help you launch your season properly.

For those doing the Mt Cook or Melbourne Marathons in October, This Sunday will be your longest run prior to your event. Combined with the fast hit out at Twilight Bay the follow week, it will be a great lead up.

Out of running gear news

Congratulations to Iain Anderson and Jillian Peberdy, tying the knot in a lovely service last weekend. Wishing you guys all future happiness.

Congratulations also go to Kirsty Krynauw on the birth of her daughter, Grace.
